    Dr. Walter Nsengiyumva is an experienced engineer and researcher with proficient technical skills and strong educational background in the field of electrical, mechanical, and mechatronic engineering. Dr. Nsengiyumva graduated with his first bachelor of Engineering in Electrotechnology and Industrial Informatics from the Institut des Sciences et des Technologies Industrielles de Brazzaville in 2008 (Brazzaville, Republic of Congo), and his second Bachelor of Technology in Electrical Engineering from Durban University of Technology in 2014 (Durban, Republic of South Africa). In 2015, Dr. Nsengiyumva was awarded the Chinese Government Scholarship to pursue his Master's in Mechanical Engineering at Fujian Agriculture and Forestry University (Fuzhou, P. R. China) and graduated in 2018. In the same year, he obtained the Fujian Provincial Government Scholarship to pursue his doctoral studies at Fuzhou University and graduated with his Ph.D. in Mechatronic Engineering in 2022. A career spanning over 10 years within the academic and industrial sectors, Dr. Nsengiyumva has expertise in research and development, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, control systems, automation, higher education, project management, intelligent sensing, systems diagnosis, and consulting. Dr. Nsengiyumva is currently an Associate Professor of Mechatronic Engineering at Fuzhou University in the School of Mechanical Engineering, a member of the Fujian Key Laboratory of Terahertz Functional Devices and Intelligent Sensing and his research interests include intelligent sensing and diagnosis, nondestructive testing and evaluation, structural health monitoring, optics and terahertz spectral imaging systems, mechanics of composites materials and structures, signal/image processing and pattern recognition for diagnosis and prognosis, renewable energy and energy management systems. As part of his scientific activities, Dr. Nsengiyumva has published several papers in peer-reviewed international journals, given several presentations at both national and international conferences, and is constantly a referee of international journals on the topics of composite materials, structural mechanics, nondestructive testing, and structural health monitoring. Dr. Nsengiyumva is also a guest editor of a Special Issue entitled “Symmetry in Structural Health Monitoring and Nondestructive Testing” in an SCI Journal “Symmetry” and a member of the organizing committee of several national and international conferences.
